Interested in the performance of new work, in the possible interaction between interpreter and composer, and with certainty that each work will bring new challenges, in recent years, Clara Saleiro, flutist, has dedicated part of her work to contemporary music. Founding member of Noviga Projekto, a flute and percussion duo, and flutist since 2016 of Vertixe Sonora (Spain), she premiered numerous pieces from composers with whom she worked directly and participated in several contemporary music festivals. The current season includes the participation at Impuls, at the festivals ENSEMS, Resis, Música Viva, FIMPV, at Flute: Hands on Research, and concerts in Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and in the United Kingdom.
Clara collaborates regularly with classical and symphonic orchestras, with Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, a symphonic wind band, and with different chamber music groups.
Clara began to play the flute when she was eight years old at Academia de Música S. Pio X de Vila do Conde, in her hometown in Portugal. Throughout her musical career she studied at such renowned institutions of Portugal as Artave, ANSO-Metropolitana and Universidade de Aveiro. Additionally, she graduated in London at Royal Academy of Music and, afterwards, she studied at the flute studio of Stephanie Wagner (Remix Ensemble).
Currently, Clara is taking a post graduation in Performance Practice in Contemporary Music with Klangforum Wien at Kunstuniversität Graz (Austria).
